THINGS TO DO IN THE LOCAL AREA

Set in the beautiful village of Timble, in Nidderdale’s stunning Washburn Valley, The Timble Inn is the perfect base from which to explore the delights of England’s finest countryside. 

You’re a stone’s throw away from breathtaking scenery, invigorating outdoor pursuits and picture-perfect towns. Walkers of all ages and abilities will enjoy several stunning trails straight from the Inn’s front door.

NIDDERDALE AONB

One of the most attractive and unspoilt parts of England is quite literally on our doorstep. It’s quieter than the neighbouring Yorkshire Dales, but it matches it for beauty. Areas such as Brimham Rocks, with its magnificent views and spectacular rock formations, are a must see.

The majestic Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just a short drive away. As is the enchanting city of Ripon, one of Britain’s smallest cities.

The idyllic town of Pateley Bridge is also well worth a visit, with plenty of quaint and quirky shops, pubs and tea rooms. You can even treat yourself at England’s oldest sweet shop!

THE YORKSHIRE DALES

World famous for its picturesque villages and jaw dropping scenery carved from the ancient limestone, the Yorkshire Dales are just a sort drive away.

It’s a walker’s paradise, home of the legendary Three Peaks Challenge (Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent), as well as endless trails and smaller hills. Many also choose to traverse the terrain by bike or horseback.

The enchanting ruins of Bolton Abbey are close by and the estate offers wonderful walks along the River Wharfe.

HARROGATE

The glorious spa town of Harrogate is a mere 9 miles away. Famous for the Royal Baths, Betty’s Tearooms, RHS Harlow Carr and Valley Gardens.

With its charming architecture and huge expanse of protected green space surrounding the town centre, known as The Stray, and ablaze with flowers all year round, it is undoubtedly one of the prettiest towns in the UK. 

Brimming with an array of vintage boutiques, galleries and soulful old pubs, there’s something for everyone.

YORK

One of Britain’s grandest and most fascinating cities, this haven of history is just an hour’s drive away. Discover England’s colourful past at several renowned historic sites such as York MinsterJorvik Viking Centre, the Yorkshire Museum and the National Railway Museum. And don’t forget the award winning York Racecourse holds events throughout the year as well.

Whatever you’re after, you’ll find it here. An abundance of shops, pubs, restaurants and galleries all sit within the city’s ancient walls.

With a variety of vibrant and entertaining events and festivals all year round, a day trip to York is sure to be unforgettable.
